Welcome to Kahawa
Where fresh roasted coffee is our passion
Kahawa's Origin - On the slopes of Mt. Kenya, in the town of Embu, a coffee farmer worked on a small piece of land that would generate income to support his family. This coffee farmer was my grandfather.
Growing up in Kenya, my childhood memories recall acres of coffee shrubs, rows upon rows of drying coffee beds and, most distinctly, my grandmother pan roasting the coffee beans over the fire, grinding them down with her grinding stone and serving the strong thick brew to my grandfather and the other elders in the family.
While visiting the family farm on a recent trip to Kenya, I was reminded of my family's history and tradition growing great Kenyan coffee. Experiencing a great Kenyan coffee became something I wanted to share with everyone. That's how the idea of "Kahawa" was born.
The simplicity of the word Kahawa — meaning "coffee" in Swahili–evokes the passion I feel for coffee and the origin of my dream in Kenya. This comes from the excitement of discovery in every cup and the array of tastes, flavours and aromas that linger behind the first sip.
